SPM Networks

SPM Networks is a web-based asset planning system specifically designed to support asset managers in undertaking rational, repeatable, engineering based calculations of renewal expenditure and valuations of network assets.

The product removes the guesswork from the analysis process by handling networks of assets as statistical groupings of like behavior.
With a framework that takes into account such things as condition and performance, the resulting optimised depreciation replacement costs and asset valuations are precise and auditable. Due diligence upon asset values is fast and simple.

Expenditure forecasts for the replacement or maintenance of assets are fact based and can be subjected to sensitivity analysis by running various scenarios. By altering condition grades, replacement strategies or deterioration functions, comparisons can be made much faster and more accurately than with traditional tools.

And because SPM Networks uses the same data set for each process there is an alignment between the financial and asset management reporting requirements.

When it is impractical to have complete and up-to-date information on your assets, SPM Networks manages asset data into statistical groupings of like behaviour. This makes it possible to initially apply the same level of accuracy to assets and to improve accuracy over time. This includes assets like pipes, poles, pylons, underground ducting and roofing.

Functionality Overview

Fully hosted solution - requires Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6 or greater, or Mozilla Firefox Version 1.0.7 or greater.
Ease of use -based on a web interface, easy to use and navigate for data input, data analysis and reporting.
Key asset data - holds information on the asset type; base life; installation date; condition grade; survey date; quantum of the asset; combinations of zones where anticipated the asset will deteriorate; zones for locations; material; diameter banded into groups for analysis; depth banded into groups for analysis.
Unit rates - data for unit rates is supported by a significant number of project costs representing the whole range of replacement strategies currently employed.
Analysis - deterioration profiles are generated and presented in an easy to understand matrix. The analysis permits a review of the predicted asset lives. Assets are analysed in groups depending on the location, soil conditions, material and diameters which can then be reported separately. The upper and lower bounds of average asset lives are summarized with typical asset lives in the range of 60 to 140 years can be anticipated. SPM Networks allows a number of curves (from power factors 1 to 3) to be considered to test and understand the sensitivity of the output to the curve shape.
Renewal Expenditure Profiles - resulting expenditure profiles are presented at an asset type level per activity.
Technology - available on either an Oracle or a Postgresql database management system.
